This is a first draft of characters that have exhibited a natural gift to be a entrepreneur and my thought of their outcome.

I think that rapid change is a natural outcome of a very successful entrepreneur. A successful entrepreneur will have rapid change to deal with because being successful requires the ability to adapt quickly when needed. Of course many people may not be ready for rapid change such as Ashley Qualls a well known entrepreneur. She obviously is a smart person and can see what people want and how to give it to them, but she obviously was not ready for the success or the rapid change her life would take. I think that she will overcome the problems she is facing with the rapid changes in her life and company, but it will be a learning experience for her.

What characteristics made Ron Wilson and Brian Le Gette successful entrepreneurs?

They had the characteristics that entrepreneurs have such as being ambitious, independent, self-confident, risk taking, visionary, and creativity. Although they have all of these qualities I think they were very big risk takers the most. They also must have been very self confident. To be able to leave the six figure jobs they had to start a company that makes ear muffs does sound crazy. For them to do this, shows that they were very confident in their abilities and taking risk was just part of it. Being creative was also a big part of their success. Recreating ear muffs that people would want to buy in such demand shows that they had the creative ability to see what people would want.

I think that Mr. Griffith business planning would be Strategic Planning. He seemed to work on a three to five year plan to achieve the objectives he saw that the company needed. His plan also identified when and how it would all be done and most likely included who would do certain things. His Strategic Planning changed the direction of the company and made it successful.

The leadership required to start accompany and the management to sustain a company.

Starting a company takes a person who is not afraid of risk and relishes their ability to solve problems. While to maintain a company that is already in action requires someone that can look at the bottom line and create objectives that the company needs to get to so they can grow and create revenue.

Robin Chase had a dream and in a very entrepreneur way set out to create her company. After she showed her company could make money her long term management skills or style did not work so well. Instead of focusing on the markets she already had she set her objectives on making the company grow. I think that she was ignoring some problems and maybe hoping they would work themselves out by themselves. Scott Griffin on the other hand went back to the original market and fixed the problems that would hinder the company’s growth. The objectives he laid out set the company on a path for growth in a much easier way.

What type of manager is T.K. Kurien?

T.K. Kurien has an Autocratic approach towards leadership. He also seems to be a bit of a controlling leader with very little empowerment for his employees. He does consult with his managers about decision so he is a consultative leader. Kurien does seem to care about his employees but the fact that he tried an assembly line approach for his programmers shows that he has never programmed or paid attention to programmer concerns in general. References to cubicle life and assembly line approach for programmers are everywhere in pop culture from Dilbert cartoons to movies. This approach has not really been use since the 90’s and the fact that he tried this shows either his lack of knowledge about who he is managing or not caring about his employees. Since he did change the assembly line approach once it did not work shows he did care and tried to improve things.

He seems to be carrying multiple roles to me. He acts as information disseminator and company spokesmen so he has an informational role. He interacts closely with his with his employees and other people and as the company figure head so he has an interpersonal role. He helps to resolve conflicts and makes decision about how to allocate resources so he also has a decisional role.

What management skill sets does he exhibit?

He does not seem to have a technical skill set but does seem to have a good conceptual skills and human relation skills. He has the ability to view the company as a whole and

understand how all the pieces fit together which gives him a good conceptual skill set. He also understands human behavior and can motivate people to complete objectives

they are given making him good at human relations
